  • Lanolin Wool Yarn for DIY Knitted Wool Nappy Cover (100g 225m)

    Size

Lanolin yarn 100% virgin wool with a high natural lanolin content ideal for diaper/nappy pants. Also, thanks to its properties, lanolin yarn is ideal for socks and sweaters and other natural baby knitting projects.

There is nothing quite like picking up the knitting needles and making your own baby garments, a desire that nesting mothers everywhere can relate to.

One ball of 100g of yarn in a pure 100% high lanolin wool will make one nappy cover.

Your package will include two simple knitting patterns for you to explore.

This yarn is a DK weight and is completely undyed with very little processing so it retains all the natural properties that make wool such an effective material for nappy covers: absorbent, with a high lanolin content, soft and breathable. It smells gorgeous and feels very lovely to knit with.

    Size: 100g/225m (DK/Worsted weight)

    Colour:natural/off-white

Usage: 100g of yarn makes 1 x nappy cover. Recommended knitting needle size 3-5.

Lanolise: You can use the Disana Lanolin or Sonett Wool Conditioner to lanolise your nappy cover after knitting.

Pure wool keeps you warm even when damp, neutralizes odours and doesn’t require frequent washing. Wool with no synthetics mixed in is also a fire-resistant material that returns to nature at the end of its life cycle.

    About Woollen Nappy Covers:

Woollen Nappy pants are used together with cotton cloth nappies that are sufficiently absorbent. Woollen nappy pants don't need to be washed at every nappy change. If they are not soiled, then it is enough just to air them. If the nappy pants are soiled, rinse off by spraying and wash them with gentle wool soap. Stains can be removed with Sonnet/Disana's Gall Soap stain remover.

Sheep's wool contains lanolin, a fatty substance which chemically binds urine acids and converts them to lanolin soap. That is why any smell of urine disappears from the woollen pants on airing. With continued washing however the lanolin is lost. For this reason, woollen nappy pants should be retreated with lanolin form time to time (after about every second or third washing). Please be patient with new nappy pants - the wool begins its work slowly, so on the first days of use some damp may penetrate through.
